On Saturday 19th July 2014, the Under-eighteen and Under-twenty-one teams were in action. The substitutes were Eric Grimes, Dan Atkinson, George Swann, Luke Parkin, Piteu Crouz and Liam Bennett. All the first team players played well but Alex Purver shone brightest in the midfield as they won 4-0 with goals from Dominic Poleon, Tom Lyman, Kalvin Phillips and Piteu Crouz (George Swan (pen) per Garforth report after seventy-seven minutes). Miners unable to ruffle Peacocks feathers

In an end-to-end start to the game Sam Akeroyd tested Leeds keeper Alex Cairns on 10 mins with a low shot from just outside the box. Nine minutes later though the visitors took the lead when a good run down the right by Dom Poleon saw him find Tom Lyman who beat Town keeper Ben Hunter with a good finish into the corner of the net. Garforth were unlucky not to equalise on 26 mins when Jason Davies found himself free in the area and was denied by a super stop by Cairns. A couple of mins later a Town break saw Black beat three defenders and try his luck with a low shot from distance but Cairns was there again. Chris Dawson and fellow striker Dom Poleon caused problems for the Miners' defence most of the afternoon and between them created the visitors' second. Dawson made a mazy run into the box on 31 mins and passed inside for Poleon who scored with a coolly taken strike. Ashley Preece almost grabbed his second Garforth goal on 44 mins after a good one-two with Nick Black; a Preece chip going narrowly wide. Town had competed well against the talented youngsters and the prospect of 3-0 seemed harsh but the visitors were that extra bit sharper on the ball and in front of goal and added a third on the stroke of half time to put the game out of our reach. A good passing move from left to right ended in Luke Booker picking out Kalvin Phillips at the far post who duly headed home. Early in the second half Hunter pulled off another good save to tip an Eoghan Stokes effort over the bar after being supplied by Tyler Denton. At the other end some last ditch clearances by the visitors defence foiled a couple of promising Garforth attacks on around 65 mins. Two mins later a break forward from Leeds ended in Poleon finding space in the area but shooting across goal and wide. On 75 mins substitute goalie Max Newbould did well to keep a curling Dawson free kick from sneaking into the corner. The home side were still worthy of a least a goal which one senses would've been well received by both sets of supporters but one never came and we were dealt another blow on 77 mins. Sub Matthew Thornton was adjudged by referee Tom Bramall to have brought down fellow sub George Swan and awarded a penalty. Swan duly dusted himself down and stepped up himself, converting calmly beyond the reach of Newbould.
